The owner of a hundred parrots, guilty of several breaches and lack of authorizations, was sentenced on Friday in Draguignan, in the Var, to a 10,000 euros fine, including 5,000 euros suspended, we learned. Monday with his lawyer.

Maximum ten birds allowed
This 47-year-old breeder, who did not stop at the hearing in April to insult the agents of the National Office for Hunting and Wildlife (ONCFS), now the French Office for Biodiversity, obtained the restitution of its birds except for 19 of them. They had been entrusted to the association 30 Millions d’Amis to which he will have to reimburse the bill for care and guarding for 7,726 euros. The law limits the number of birds that can be kept without authorization to ten.
Spotted in possession of a protected species of squirrel, this enthusiast who set up a small zoo in Ginnasservis (Var) held 88 birds without the necessary authorizations or certificates for some of them. The aviaries and registers were also not spotless when officers came for a check.
Civil parties in the lawsuit, 30 Millions d’Amis obtained 2,000 euros in damages, as did the League for the Protection of Birds (LPO).
