A team of Ukrainian filmmakers is shooting a new series for ZDFneo. “Heaven & Earth” is scheduled for release in October.

Ukrainian filmmakers are working on a new series for ZDFneo and the ZDF media library. According to a statement by ZDF, there are employees in all the trades involved in the team who have either fled to Germany or have been living in this country for a long time. That includes directing and scripts, sound and camera, but also make-up, costumes and equipment.

“A symbolic call for solidarity”

The five-part anthology series is entitled “Heaven & Earth” and will probably be filmed in Berlin until the end of July. It is therefore intended to provide a platform for filmmakers who will address issues related to the war in Ukraine. According to the statement, the project sees itself as a “symbolic call for solidarity and a rejection of war”.

Directed by Mykyta Gibalenko, Tatjana Moutchnik and Daria Onyshchenko based on their own books. The latter and Maryna Vroda are also directing screenplays by Pavlo Voytovych and Maria Bruni. Starring Kate Molchanova, Thea Rasche, Maria Shtofa, Oleksandra Barstok, Birte Schnöink, Rostyslav Bome, Valeriia Berezovska, Anna Cheban, Anna Böger, Nina Nizheradze and Arthur Aliyev.

The episodes of “Himmel & Erde” should then be available in the media library from October 6th. ZDFneo will show all episodes one after the other on October 25th from 8:15 p.m. Since one of the episodes is from a child’s point of view, it will probably be shown in autumn in KiKA and on ZDFtivi.
