In the future, landlords will have to pay more heating costs, tenants less: the SPD, Greens and FDP have now agreed on this. What that means financially for both sides.

The heating bill, it is currently worrying many people. Tenants, however, have a particularly difficult time: they have to pay, but have no influence on how economically the house uses oil, gas or district heating. Heating, windows, facade – all a matter for the owner. And up to now they have often had little incentive to upgrade their properties to be energy-saving and therefore climate-friendly.
