Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) has Corona – despite quadruple vaccination politics

Germany’s supreme corona-Mahner tested positive for the virus.

Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (59, SPD) tested positive on Thursday evening, his ministry announced on Friday night. “The minister is fine with only mild symptoms. He will temporarily carry out his official duties from domestic isolation.”

Lauterbach was vaccinated four times, it said. “This shows that with the highly contagious omicron variant, infection cannot be completely ruled out, even with extreme caution.”

The message went on to say: “The minister therefore once again appealed to everyone to behave prudently and to ensure adequate vaccination protection so that infections and severe courses can be prevented as far as possible.”

For Lauterbach, the infection comes at a bad political time. Because: The traffic light government’s Corona plan for the fall has only just become known. Massive vaccination pressure is being applied even to those who have been vaccinated three times, and quadruple vaccination is being praised as the solution.

In concrete terms, the following should apply in autumn: Anyone who wants to go to restaurants, museums and sports halls without a mask and test must be vaccinated every three months. The third vaccination may be “at most three months” old.

For 51.5 million “boosted” people, this means: two more vaccinations to go to the pub from October to April without a mask and test.

The Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko) recommends the fourth vaccination only for over 70-year-olds. And now, of all times, the Lauterbach example shows that even the fourth vaccination does not protect against infection.
