Health in Bavaria: Country is worthwhile for doctors – Bavaria

“Are you privately or legally insured?” Anyone who wants to make an appointment with a doctor hears this question regularly. The reason is obvious: Doctors often earn more from treating private patients than from statutory health insurance patients. For example, if doctors examine a patient’s cardiac activity using an ECG, they can charge the private insurance company 41.97 euros, but the health insurance company can only charge 15.40 euros. This is what it says in the respective fee schedules. Private patients are therefore welcome. If a practice has a particularly large number of them, its sales will be higher. According to a study by the Association of Private Health Insurance Companies, this is most often the case in rural areas in Bavaria.
