Headaches, stomach aches, sleep disorders: what students in Germany suffer from – Health

A survey shows that typical psychosomatic complaints such as headaches, stomach cramps or sleep disorders have increased significantly among children and young people. Who is particularly affected – and what can be done about it.

It’s the old question of whether the glass is half full or half empty. After all, most students in Germany report their health as good. Nevertheless, there are significant reductions, as current data from the HBSC study show. In the nationwide survey in 2022, the health of almost 6,500 students between the ages of eleven and 15 was recorded. The analysis shows that students often suffer from several psychosomatic complaints such as vague stomach aches or headaches, many rate their well-being as moderate at best and they do not exercise enough.
