He was consulting confidential police files, a convicted administrative officer

At the helm, he evoked a certain curiosity or even his “passion” for cars. An administrative officer of a Nice police station, prosecuted for having improperly consulted confidential police files, and in particular those of criminal records (TAJ) and registrations, was sentenced on Tuesday evening by the criminal court. In addition to the 15 days of layoff without pay, inflicted by his hierarchy, the official receives a two-month suspended prison sentence, reports Nice morning.

In fact, this 52-year-old man was accused of having consulted the TAJ nine times and the vehicle listing 1,136 times. To check if some of his acquaintances had already been sentenced and to “do a service”, he explained. He would also have connected to the file of foreigners to know the evolution of the administrative situation of his wife, specifies the regional daily.

The investigation opened by the General Inspectorate of the National Police has in any case demonstrated that these illegal accesses had not been remunerated. But “consulting these confidential files is not neutral”, supported the prosecutor, according to comments reported by Nice-Matin. “Those who are empowered sign a charge. We expect an example from a police officer,” he added.
