The gendarmes of the Fréjus brigade had a very macabre surprise this Friday at the end of the morning. A 38-year-old man arrived at their premises with a bag containing the severed head and penis of his victim. He came to “confess” his act committed the day before by providing “proof”, he explained to the military, specified the regional directorate of the Paca gendarmerie.
Solicited by 20 minutes, the public prosecutor of Draguignan indicated “that at this stage, the terrorist act is excluded”. “There is no evidence that it is a question of radicalization. It would rather be a dispute between two people who know each other, ”says Patrice Camberou.
“Assassination” and “act of cruelty and barbarism”
The accused, known to the police for various offenses, was arrested and taken into custody at the Fréjus police station. He must be the subject of a psychiatric examination. An investigation was opened for “murder” and entrusted to the judicial police of Toulon. It could be extended to the count of “acts of cruelty and barbarism”.
In the afternoon, an important device was deployed in a residence on the avenue de Villeneuve, near the historic center of the city, where the rest of the body of the victim, also aged 38, was discovered.
