He seeks to be arrested to spend the night under a roof, in Dax. This Thursday evening, a man in his forties, homeless and usually housed in an emergency accommodation center at 115 near Bayonne, took the wrong train. Instead of arriving at Bayonne station, the terminus is Dax station. It’s half past midnight, night has fallen and he has no way of getting back to the Basque Country. He then finds as his only shelter, the police station. Drunk, he seeks to be arrested and sets fire to four trash cans and a wooden pallet, near the station.
Six months in prison
This man then calls the police himself to denounce himself. It works, he is taken into custody and remains there for 48 hours. Heard by the courts this Saturday at the end of the day, the man was finally tried under the guilty plea procedure, that is to say after having recognized the facts, and sentenced to six months in prison. He had barely left in early August, after serving a sentence for acts of violence.
