The remains of a woman, who died eight or ten years ago, were found on Monday August 29 in her house in the village of Bretoncelles (Orne). During all these years, her 71-year-old son pretended to visit her almost every day, revealed The Pole. He continued to bring her groceries.
Every time he drove around the village in his van and was asked about his mother Albertine, this former heating engineer always answered the same thing: “Everything is fine. “Except that no one had seen this woman in the streets of Bretoncelles for many years, says The Parisian.
The mayor worries during a heat wave
To hide his disappearance, the septuagenarian had demanded that no one visit him, claiming that the old lady preferred to stay alone at home.
This summer of 2022, marked by several heat waves, the mayor decided to call all his constituents over the age of 90 one by one to hear from them. But it was impossible for him to find the number of this resident. The city councilor therefore questioned the wife of the son, a member of the municipal council, who assured him that everything was fine. She did not know that her 99-year-old mother-in-law had died since she was not allowed to enter her house.
The hospitalized son
The mayor still threatened to call the gendarmes to check the old lady’s state of health. A few days later, the former heating engineer confessed everything before feeling unwell. Hospitalized, his state of health is considered worrying. He could only be heard once by the gendarmes. Bones were discovered in the house of the old lady.
Among the various hypotheses is notably that of a denial of death. An investigation has been opened by the Alençon prosecutor’s office. She will also have to determine who received the old lady’s retirement pension during all these years.
