Gone is the family Audi Q5, as are bank cards and cell phones. On January 25, a couple residing in Place Saint-Georges, in the heart of downtown Toulouse, realized when they woke up that their accommodation had been robbed in their presence during the night.
But the discretion that presided over the operation was short-lived. Thanks to the contactless payments made with bank cards, to the boundaries of the telephones and after having found the car a month later, the investigators of the departmental security’s property crime unit ended up “recovering” a suspect: a young 20 years old, initially elusive, but who had bad luck on Monday when he was walking near the Jean-Jaurès metro.

A patrol from the public transport security brigade had just reviewed the file of wanted persons. The passerby’s face reminded the police of someone.
The police custody of the suspect made it possible to confirm the suspicions after a fingerprinting. He was tried in immediate appearance on Wednesday afternoon and sentenced to six months in prison, with a warrant for committal at the hearing.
