He creates a solidarity burger “Smash Poutine” in Poitiers

In times of war, all gestures of solidarity are welcome. That of Olivier Leclerc, chef cooked in Poitiers, is one of them. The restaurant owner The Counter Kitchen will indeed offer from this Tuesday noon a solidarity burger with poutine in support of Ukraine in its establishment. A natural gesture for those who have already carried out several solidarity operations in recent years for nurses or even children hospitalized during the Covid-19 epidemic.

“This conflict does not necessarily affect me closely,” he explains. But how to remain insensitive to what is happening? We cannot do nothing. We must denounce Russia’s aggression and everyone must realize that we are on the verge of a third world war. This is how the idea of the “smashputin” was born. It’s a smash burger (very fashionable steak cooking technique from New York) accompanied by its poutine. Above, we will find the caricature of Vladimir Poutine in Adolf Hitler with the mustache and the lock thanks to a drawing made using a completely edible vegetable charcoal curry.

Four euros donated to the UN for each burger sold

Beyond the symbolism of this burger, Olivier Leclerc will donate part of his prize in support of Ukraine. “I think it will represent four euros per burger and we should give them to the Ukrainian humanitarian fund of the UN (United Nations)”, specifies the one who will participate in a few days in the French Burger Cup final at the Sandwich and Snack Show in Paris. In the meantime, the Poitevin restaurant does not intend to stop there. He is currently discussing with several associations to organize meals for war refugees who have been arriving in France little by little for a week.
