Haute-Garonne and Tarn placed on orange alert to strong winds, gusts of up to 120 km / h expected

We will have to bring in the parasols and close the shutters. Météo-France placed Haute-Garonne and Tarn on orange alert for high winds on Monday afternoon. Forecasters are announcing an episode of strong Autan winds, “occurring on average two to three times a year”, lasting more than 24 hours, which should ease at the end of the day on Tuesday.

Gusts of 70 to 90 km / h between Toulouse and the south of the Tarn were already recorded in the middle of the day and will gradually strengthen over the hours. During the night from Monday to Tuesday, peaks of 90 to 100 km / h are expected over the Toulouse noon.

Strong winds also in the mountains

“The Autan wind will reach its maximum intensity on Tuesday during the day with an average wind of 50 to 65 km / h and gusts of 100 to 110 km / h in the Toulouse area and 110 to 120 km / h in the Lauragais and the Castres-Mazamet region”, indicates the Vigilance service of Météo-France.

Strong winds are also expected on the Pyrenees massif with gusts of up to 100 km / h in the mountains and in certain interior valleys.
