JK Rowling’s play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” can now be seen in a new, shorter production in Hamburg. We sent our most incorruptible critic to the premiere: Ernest, 9 years old, Harry Potter expert from Hamburg.
One notices immediately that this will not be a normal visit to the theatre. Because the theater is weirdly squeezed in behind Hamburg’s main train station, surrounded by industry and warehouses. A huge parking lot with barriers – not fancy here. Trucks maneuver, people unload boxes. Next door a wholesale market for groceries. In between we run, we want to see “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”. There are children in pointed witch hats, men in three-piece suits with magician’s cloaks.
