Harald Schmidt in an interview: “I’m an emcee. In my own league.” – Culture

Harald Schmidt on awareness, quality time, mistakes on the theater stage and Andrea Tandler’s disguise.

Interviewed by

Christine Dossel

Harald Schmidt is currently enthralling audiences for almost two hours in his program “Spielzeitanalyse” at the Stuttgarter Schauspiel. Only he and a piano on the stage, on which he alludes to the low E flat from Wagner’s “Rheingold” towards the end. Then nothing. The ex-late-night talker delivers masterful satire. Contrary to what the title suggests, it is only marginally about the theatre, but instead cross-country through the news situation. We meet the 65-year-old in the theater canteen, from where he will leave four hours later for the train to Cologne.
