Hansi Flick has to go – Rudi Völler takes over for one game

Wolfsburg. It had already been announced, now the decision has been made: The German Football Association is separating from the national coach Hansi Flick. The DFB announced this on Sunday. Rudi Völler, actually sports director for the national team, is taking over for one game; Germany is playing against France on Tuesday. Völler is supported by Hannes Wolf and Sandro Wagner.

“The committees agreed that the senior men’s national team needed a new impetus after the recent disappointing results. With a view to the European Championships in our own country, we need a spirit of optimism and confidence,” says Bernd Neuendorf. “For me personally, it is one of the most difficult decisions in my term of office so far. Because I value Hansi Flick and his assistant coaches as football experts and people. However, sporting success has top priority for the DFB. That’s why the decision was unavoidable.”

After the shockingly weak performance against Japan, Germany lost 4-1 on Saturday evening, the patience of those responsible was exhausted. Hansi Flick: The first national coach to be fired
