Hans Meiser is dead: TV presenter dies “unexpectedly of heart failure” – media

The television presenter Hans Meiser died “unexpectedly of heart failure” at the age of 77. This is what his recently founded radio station “Radio Wellenrausch” reports.

Meiser moderated RTL for years, first the news program “7 vor 7”, later “RTL aktuell”. He became known to a large audience through his own talk show “Hans Meiser”, which started in 1992 and allowed non-celebrities to speak on television for the first time. It was a model for many similar private television formats. The RTL reality show “Notruf”, which re-enacted real emergencies and rescue missions, was also successful.

Just about a week ago he started a new radio station together with media manager Harald Thoma. Radio Wellenrausch, based in Lübeck, has a DAB+ frequency for Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg and is also streamed on the Internet. “We hope that the listeners will say: ‘Oh, finally something that’s a little different than what many others are doing,'” Meiser told the German Press Agency. “We want to make radio that embraces people.” For example, no title should be played twice a day.

In 2017, Meiser faced criticism for his work for a controversial online portal that spreads conspiracy stories. He leaves behind a wife, three children and three grandchildren.
