The burger chain “Hans im Glück” has separated from co-partner Limmer. He is said to have co-organized an event that was supposedly about the mass expulsion of people with a migration background. Limmer denies that.

The restaurant chain “Hans im Glück” is separating from its co-partner Hans-Christian Limmer with immediate effect. The company announced this today after allegations were made against Limmer in a media article that he had invited people to an event where the expulsion of people with a migration background from Germany was said to have been discussed.

“We are surprised and dismayed by the public allegations that one of our co-owners invited people to an event at which right-wing radicals are said to have called for the remigration of millions of people, including German nationals,” says a statement from “Hans im Happiness”.

Limmer did not attend meetings

The media company “Correctiv” reported on the event, at which participants were said to have discussed plans for a mass expulsion of people with a migrant background from Germany last November. In addition to AfD politicians, the leader of the right-wing extremist Identitarian movement, Martin Sellner, also took part in this meeting and presented his ideas on “remigration”.

Limmer’s name is also included in the invitation to the meeting, which the dpa also had access to. According to “Correctiv”, he did not take part in the meeting himself. Limmer did not comment on his specific role or the question of why his name was among the invitations to the media company.

Limmer offered his resignation

“As the company Hans im Glück Franchise GmbH, we clearly distance ourselves from right-wing extremist views; they represent the exact opposite of our core values,” says the statement from “Hans im Glück”. Limmer informed the company in advance about the media coverage and emphasized that he had unequivocally distanced himself from the stated remigration demands to the inquiring media.

The company’s statement went on to say that Limmer was “dismayed by the demands made there.” In order to prevent damage to “Hans im Glück”, Limmer offered to give up his partnership status immediately. “The shareholder group has accepted this offer.” Hans-Christian Limmer has been a partner at “Hans im Glück” since 2020.
