Hanns Joachim Friedrichs Prize: Pandemic Documentary and Katrin Eigendorf – Media


The renowned Hanns Joachim Friedrichs Prize has announced this year’s winners. One main prize goes to the pandemic documentary series Charité intensive – station 43. Director Carl Gierstorfer was “available around the clock for three months” for the “consistently cautious, observant” RBB series at the Berlin University Clinic, and “pushed to his physical and psychological limits”, the jury explained. The second main prize goes to ZDF reporter Katrin Eigendorf, among other things for her reporting from Afghanistan. Jan Böhmermann’s satire show will receive the honorary award at the award ceremony in November ZDF Magazine Royale.
