Michael Kern is cautious about direct comparisons between Germany and Norway. “That would be like comparing apples and oranges. They are countries of different sizes,” says the executive board of the German-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce. And he doesn’t mean the geography – the differences aren’t that big – but the population. “A country with a good five million inhabitants that is so sparsely populated has to behave completely differently than one with almost 85 million that is densely populated,” says Kern. A comparison is still permitted because Norway is the partner country of the Hanover Fair this year.
