It won’t be long until Easter. Hanni Rabbit and his team have their paws full again at the Easter Bunny Post Office.

So far this year, more than 12,000 letters have reached the Easter post office in Ostereistedt, Lower Saxony. The mail comes from all over Germany, but also from Australia, China and Ukraine, said the head of the Easter post office, Doris Kröger. “This year it is extremely extreme that the children want peace and are happy to forego presents in return.”

Some children tried to negotiate with the Easter Bunny, Kröger said. They want to go without diapers or their pacifiers when the bunny comes at Easter. Other children write to the bunny where he should best hide the chocolate eggs. The Easter bunny Hanni Hase and his team of 14 answer every letter.

According to the postal service, around 80,000 letters were received last year. Letters also arrive at the Easter Bunny post office in Upper Lusatia. There answer “Olli Easter Bunny” and his wife “Lotti Langohr” at the Easter post office. The branch in Seifhennersdorf, Saxony, has existed since 2005. There is also an Easter Bunny post office in Osterhausen, which belongs to the town of Eisleben in Saxony-Anhalt.
