Almost 17 years after her big breakthrough as the murderous piano player in “Four Minutes,” Hannah Herzsprung returns in the same role. What has changed for you since then?
Hannah Herzsprung has a special relationship with the star. We conducted one of her first major interviews with her in spring 2007. The occasion was – a small sensation for a cinema newcomer – her double nomination for the German Film Prize: as best supporting actress in the family drama “The Real Life” and as best leading actress in “Four Minutes”. The role of the brilliant but self-destructive piano player Jenny, imprisoned for murder, marked her international breakthrough. The film ended up winning 64 awards and was seen by two million viewers worldwide.
A good 17 years later, Herzsprung’s Jenny is now returning. “15 Years” tells what happens after her release and how she starts taking part in one Casting-Show wants to settle old scores. Herzsprung, now 42, throws herself into her star role with the same fury as before. A perfect opportunity to judge them against their statements back then. Has she changed? Did she live up to her own standards and remain true to herself?
