1. Miso soups

They are fluid. They are hot. They provide amino acids, vitamins and minerals. Japanese miso soups are not so popular in Japan and other Asian countries for nothing. The main flavorings are dashi, as the fish stock is called, and miso, a soybean paste. Small pieces of tofu or thin green seaweed, the wakame, like to swim in the soup. In Japan it is served for traditional breakfast, along with rice. So for us the perfect hangover soup.

2. Cheese, cheese, cheese

If you have a headache, you are hungry for something hearty. Except the alcohol has completely ruined the stomach. For everyone else, it’s time to get down to the gratin. It could be buns with baked bacon, pickles, garlic and tons of cheese. Or a cheese pizza. Pasta in all variations is also delicious, as long as enough parmesan or mozzarella is sprinkled on top.

3. Oh, you big egg

Eggs are real energy suppliers and the best hangover food ever. Because they are incredibly diverse: Whether breakfast eggs, fried eggs, scrambled eggs, poached eggs, egg salad or Eggs Benedict, everyone has their secret favorite. The best: If you don’t have the nerve to stand in the kitchen for a long time, just put a few eggs in the pan, fry bacon and have a sensational hangover breakfast.

4. Bacon

Bacon is an all-rounder. It not only tastes great with eggs, but also with sweet dishes such as French toast. For this purpose, debarked white bread slices are soaked in a mixture of milk, eggs, sugar and vanilla and then baked in the fat. There is also powdered sugar, maple syrup and lots of crispy fried bacon. But beware! This daring combination is only for the experienced and does not suit everyone!

5. Burritos, quesadillas, tacos

We suspect Mexican food was invented in the first place to calm the head after a long tequila session. There is actually almost no better meal after a night of partying. How else can it be explained that delicacies such as burritos, quesadillas or tacos are on many German menus these days – even in breakfast bars. Leftovers are also ideal for making a burrito. If you have rice from the day before, mix it in the tortilla cake. It is the same with all kinds of salads and vegetables. If you have an avocado in the house, make a delicious guacamole out of it. And don’t forget the hot sauce and cheese. Delicious!

6. Rollmops & Co.

A well-known hangover breakfast is the rollmops. But not only that, but also sour, smoked or pickled fish specialties such as Bismarck herring, herring salad or fatty types of fish such as mackerel and salmon. They have a lot of omega-3 fatty acids and also contain many minerals that the metabolism urgently needs after the increased alcohol consumption. That’s why you have to eat: herring (or other fish), vinegar, salt and pickles. And the hangover runs away …

7. Pickles, preserves, preserves

The pickle is already mentioned in two points – and rightly so, because pickles, preserves and preserves are exactly the right thing for the hangover. Whether pickles, oily sardines, artichokes, olives, hearty chutneys or mixed pickles – they all make the morning more bearable. Especially when it comes with melted cheese and loads of carbohydrates …

8. Coffee, black, with a dash of lemon

Lemon juice contains vitamin C, caffeine stimulates the circulation and the two in combination work like a pain reliever. That’s why you drink espresso with a dash of lemon. But be careful: if your stomach is already rebelling, coffee and acid are not for you!

9. Banana smoothies

Fluids are generally important after drinking alcohol. However, the banana smoothie will help dispel cramps, tiredness and nausea. Bananas are an excellent source of potassium, the deficiency of which can lead to the above symptoms after a night of partying. Add honey to the smoothie – and you will feel reborn.

10. Bloody Mary – virgin, of course

Tomato juice, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco and celery. No, of course not with vodka, like you drank the cocktail the night before, but the virgin version. Tomato juice contains lycopene, which protects cells thanks to its antioxidant properties. It’s healthy and tastes delicious too. If you then consume the other foods, the hangover will eventually get better.
