Berlin’s handball players are still at the top. But the Foxes are having an extremely difficult time against the bottom of the table. There is a clear winner in the northern derby.

The Füchse Berlin have their lead in the table Handball Bundesliga only defended with difficulty. However, the capital club around world handball player Mathias Gidsel had more problems than expected in the 35:34 (18:16) over bottom of the table HBW Balingen-Weilstetten.

In Berlin’s 21st win of the season, Hans Lindberg was the best thrower on the floor with ten goals. With a win in the evening game against Bergischen HC, Champions League winner SC Magdeburg can keep up with the Füchse.

Flensburg clearly wins the derby against Kiel

The Berliners had an extremely difficult time against the newcomers. Even a six-goal lead didn’t give the home team any security. The Foxes’ missed throw rate increased, while the guests made better use of their chances. After the break, coach Jaron Siewert’s team managed their lead without convincing. The luck of the throw was on the side of the strong players, who were not rewarded for their committed performance.

SG Flensburg-Handewitt had already clearly won the 110th Schleswig-Holstein derby against THW Kiel on Saturday. The 33:26 (13:10) away win was the SG’s 40th success and also the highest in the Bundesliga in the Kiel Arena. With 39:11 points, Flensburg remains third in the table. The THW fell back to fifth place with 34:14 points and can probably write off a Champions League start in the coming season.
