“Hand in hand”: Thank you for around 2.9 million euros! | NDR.de

It was the highlight of the NDR charity campaign “Hand in Hand for Northern Germany”: The big donation day on December 10th, 2021. Everywhere in the broadcast area moderators, employees and many prominent guests answered your calls on the donation phones. There was also a lot of collection at NDR 90.3 and the Hamburg Journal. In the joint donation center on Rothenbaum, calls were made for a good cause from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. In cooperation with the Kinderschutzbund in the north, projects for children, young people and families are supported this year.

Great willingness to donate

In the large conference room of NDR 90.3, the tables were arranged in a small circle and a total of four telephone stations were set up so that celebrities and NDR colleagues could receive their donations. Other rooms were used for donation phones in order to be able to keep the distances required for the corona rules. The phones didn’t stop. In the morning at 5 a.m. the donation level was already 1.45 million euros. This sum had been donated from the start of the campaign until the day of the donation and is a record amount for the NDR charity campaign, which has existed since 2011.

Lots of support for children in need

Many well-known Hamburg personalities took their seats from six o’clock: for example Carola Veit, President of the Hamburg Parliament, Second Mayor Katharina Fegebank, the “Großstadtrevier” actors Enrique Fiß and Patrick Abozen, TV chef Cornelia Poletto and Carlo von Tiedemann. He is happy about every call and the willingness to donate for children in need. “I think that many children simply do not understand why they got into this situation completely innocently, that the world rushes by and they are so helpless”, said the popular NDR 90.3 presenter.

Thanks to all donors

“The children are particularly suffering in the pandemic, especially emotionally. It is important to help here, which is why we have chosen the Kinderschutzbund as a partner in our fundraising campaign this year. Children are our future, thank you for helping us,” says Sabine Rossbach, Director of the NDR Landesfunkhaus Hamburg. During the course of the day, the songwriter Rolf Zuckowski, “Rote Rosen” actress Maria Fuchs and NDR presenter Yared Dibaba sat on the phones. And Heinz Erhardt’s granddaughter, Nicola Tyszkiewicz, even came to the donation center twice to help.
