The ride stops in the air: the fire brigade saves six cathedral visitors from a height of 15 meters
The visitors to the Hamburg Cathedral had to hold out at a dizzy height for almost two hours until rescuers from the fire brigade were able to bring them back to solid ground

A power failure has led to the fire brigade being deployed to the Hamburg Cathedral: Six people were stuck in a ride 15 meters high for more than two hours. Height rescuers were able to bring them safely back to the ground.
Rescuers from the fire brigade rescued a total of six people from a ride on the Hamburg Spring Cathedral on Monday. Hours after the incident, the last of the young people climbed into the rescuers’ basket, as a dpa reporter observed. The exact cause of the incident remained unknown as of Monday evening.
Power failure at Hamburger Dom: Six visitors are stuck at a height of 15 meters
The users of the “Jekyll and Hyde” ride had previously had to wait temporarily at a height of about 15 meters. The “overhead ride” is a so-called propeller. A long arm rotates around a horizontal axis. During this time, you were looked after by rescuers using cranes. According to the fire brigade, none of the passengers was injured.
The reason for the operation at around 3.59 p.m. was a power failure just at the moment when the arm of the ride was almost in a horizontal position. The situation center of the fire brigade spoke of a possible technical defect in the early evening. According to the operator of the ride, gear damage may have been the reason for the incident.
When the passengers were back on solid ground, bystanders applauded. A boy said after the rescue that he was not afraid of heights, the reporter reported. One of the users had to remain in an inclined position with his upper body down for a long time after the incident.
Hustle and bustle continued around the fire brigade operation
Meanwhile, the hustle and bustle continued to the left and right of the ride. The Ferris wheel turned, the roller coasters drove. Only the immediate area around the horizontal carousel was cordoned off. There were 22 firefighters and height rescuers on duty.
