After a search of a Hamburg school, no weapons were found, the police said. The officials had moved to a large-scale operation because a suspected armed youth is said to have entered the building.
The all-clear at the Otto Hahn School in Hamburg-Jenfeld: A police spokeswoman said that no weapon was initially found during a search of the entire site with its seven buildings. “There were no special incidents, so we can give the all-clear for now,” the Hamburg police said on Twitter. However, the buildings would be searched again after the students left them.
Teenager is said to have entered the school with a weapon
The police arrived around noon with a large contingent because a suspected armed youth is said to have entered the building. As a result, police officers with submachine guns cordoned off a large area of the school grounds.
A short time later, the police tweeted that it was not clear whether the gunman observed actually entered the building or only headed in the direction of the school building and then perhaps walked past the school. However, as a precaution, the school building was completely searched by special units, as the police said.
Parents who had made their way to school with concern were asked by the police to go to the parent collection point in the parking lot at Jenfelder Allee 80a. According to the police, they were looked after there as long as the school grounds were sealed off. According to observers, dozens of people took advantage of the offer.
The Otto-Hahn-School is located in the district of Wandsbek and is a district school with a high school. The school is attended by almost 1,500 boys and girls who stayed in the classrooms with their teachers in accordance with the regulations in the event of an amok alarm.
