Halloween is on October 31st: On this day the motto “The scarier, the better” applies – not only for the costumes and decorations, but also for the food. Here are five delicious recipe ideas that are scary.

Brain Cookies

Ingredients (about 25 servings):

  • 630 grams of butter
  • 500 grams of powdered sugar
  • 90 grams of cocoa powder
  • 500 grams of flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla flavor
  • vanilla extract
  • red food coloring
  • 1 egg
  • Salt

  1. For the cookie dough, first mix 250 grams of softened butter with 200 grams of powdered sugar, the cocoa powder, a teaspoon of salt and some vanilla extract in a bowl until fluffy, then fold in the flour and the egg. Now chill the dough for an hour.
  2. When the dough has cooled, roll it out on a floured work surface until it is about 3mm thick. After that, stab with one cookie cutter Cut out circles and decorate with a cookie stampbefore they are baked in the oven at 175 degrees for ten minutes and set aside to cool.
  3. For the filling, mix together 150 grams of softened butter, half a teaspoon of vanilla extract and a pinch of salt bowl, until it has a creamy consistency. Then always connect two biscuits together with a small dollop of filling.

Ingredients (about 40 servings):

  • 250 grams of flour
  • 120 grams of butter
  • 120 grams of sugar
  • 1 egg (size M)
  • 40 almonds
  • red food coloring

Preparation:

  1. First, beat the softened butter with the sugar in one bowl fluffy before you fold in the egg and gradually the flour until you get a classic shortcrust pastry. This must then be chilled for 30 minutes before it can be processed further.
  2. In the meantime, fill up a bit food coloring in a small plastic bag and toss the almonds in it. Then pour the contents onto a plate to allow the paint to dry. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees (top and bottom heat).
  3. Bring a tray with you reusable parchment paper out. Now form small rolls out of the dough, which you score with a knife at the “finger joints” and decorate each with an almond (the “fingernail”). Then bake the cookies in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes.

Ingredients (for approx. 16 servings):

  • 8 wieners
  • 1 pack pizza or puff pastry
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 16 peppercorns

Preparation:

  1. Roll out the dough and cut it into fine strips. Cut each sausage in half so you have 16 “mummies” (you can cut them into thirds), and wrap the pieces in the dough like a mummy. Leave a little room above the sausages for the eyes. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees (top and bottom heat).
  2. Now put the sausages on top baking paper. Bake the mummies for 10 to 12 minutes (depending on what the pastry says). Then allow the sausages to cool briefly before forming the eyes with two dabs of mustard and peppercorns for the pupils. You can use the pizza sauce for dipping if necessary.

Ingredients (about 12 servings):

  • 400 grams of flour
  • 200 milliliters of water
  • 1 packet of dry yeast
  • 8 tbsp sunflower oil
  • 200 milliliters of tomato passata
  • salt and pepper
  • paprika powder (noble sweet)
  • oregano (dried)
  • 1 piece Gouda
  • 3 slices of cooked ham
  • 4 slices of salami
  • 4 black olives

Preparation:

  1. Mix the flour, lukewarm water, dry yeast and sunflower oil with a teaspoon of salt and mix all the ingredients together bowl to a smooth dough. Put the dough in a warm place for an hour so that it can rise in peace.
  2. Pour the tomato passata into a bowl and taste them with the spices (paprika, oregano, salt and pepper). Then cut the ham, salami and mushrooms into small cubes. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees (top and bottom heat).
  3. Take the dough and divide it into evenly divided pieces, form small balls out of them, flatten them nicely and brush them with the tomato sauce. Now evenly sprinkle ham, salami and mushroom cubes over the mummy pizzas.
  4. Then cut a few thin slices from the Gouda, which you in turn cut into thin strips. Don’t put them on the topping just yet, otherwise they’ll melt in the oven! Only after baking are the cheese strips spread over the mini pizzas.
  5. Now cut the olives into thin rings and place two slices next to each other in the upper part of the pizza for the eyes. After that, the mummy faces come on with baking paper lined baking sheet in the oven for about ten minutes.

Ingredients (about 12 servings):

  • 100 grams of butter
  • 50 grams of dark chocolate
  • 130 grams of sugar
  • 2 eggs (size M)
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 180 grams flour (sifted)
  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 100 milliliters of milk
  • 120 grams of chocolate chips
  • 24 chocolate lentils
  • Chocolateglaze
  • 4 liquorice snails
  • Salt

Preparation:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees (top and bottom heat). Take one Muffin Baking Sheet and fill it with reusable ones Silicone muffin cups. Then take a large bowl and mix the flour with the baking powder and cocoa powder and a pinch of salt.
  2. Melt the dark chocolate together with the butter in a water bath and mix both ingredients until a homogeneous mass is formed – set aside to cool briefly. Then stir in the sugar with a hand mixer underneath until a fluffy consistency is formed.

  3. Now stir both eggs into the chocolate mixture one after the other, then add the flour step by step – the same applies to the milk. That’s the only way the dough won’t get any lumps. Finally, fill the mixture evenly into the twelve muffin cases and place the muffin tin in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.

  4. After baking, leave the muffins on one cake rack cool briefly, meanwhile heat the chocolate icing and spread it over the twelve muffins. Immediately afterwards, you can unroll the liquorice snails and cut off six “legs” of equal length from each spider, which you then stick into the dough on the side.

  5. Finally, sprinkle the “bodies” with the chocolate chips. Now press two chocolate beans for the “eyes” next to each other on each muffin. If you like, you can also use colored chocolate beans – or you can put a colored one on each of the brown eyes sugar ball for the “pupils”.
