With special effects and creepy acting performances, the films cast a spell over us.
But not everything is mere staging.
These 5 Scary Facts Actually Happened On The Sets Of Horror Movies.
1. While filming Poltergeist, Oliver Robins, aka Robbie, was actually choked by the robotic clown doll in this scene – it wasn’t until the young actor turned purple that director Steven Spielberg realized what had happened.
2. During the iconic scene in Alien, where the eponymous horror creature erupts from an astronaut’s chest, the rest of the cast had no idea what was about to happen. Therefore, their horrified reactions are genuine.
3. For the bee scene in Candyman, Tony Todd had to fill his mouth with real bees. A device prevented the insects from crawling down the actor’s throat, but the scene ended with multiple bites for Todd.
4. The bodies in the rainy poltergeist pool scene were actual skeletons. It is speculated that they were simply cheaper than fake products.
5. The cast and crew of Amityville Horror kept waking up inexplicably at 3:15 am during filming. This is the same time Ryan Reynolds' character in the film mysteriously wakes up every night.
