Halloween goes without much riot, but with a lot of noise – Bavaria

Despite few major incidents, Halloween night brought hundreds of operations to the police in Bavaria. In many cases these were just residents’ complaints about noise, but there were also double-digit numbers of injuries, as reported by several police headquarters and other departments on Wednesday.

The Upper Bavaria North police headquarters in Ingolstadt reported a “relatively quiet night”, comparable to weekend nights. In total, the officers in the northern half of Upper Bavaria went on 132 missions – including 53 disturbances of the peace, 38 traffic accidents, 20 cases of property damage and fights with a total of 21 injured.

The Lower Franconia police headquarters in Würzburg spoke of a largely peaceful Halloween – with around 60 disturbances as the “numerical focus of the police operations”. The Lower Bavarian police departments reported more than 90 operations around Halloween, including 37 disturbances and 18 physical injuries.

In Coburg, a failed Halloween party came to an unpleasant end for three of the guests: a 19-year-old was injured in the hospital after a fight, and two other visitors spent the night in police custody in a cell. According to the Coburg police station, the fight in the clubhouse was triggered by a dispute over a lighter. A total of seven party guests were involved in the altercations. The police opened investigations into assaults in several cases. Aside from the noise and fights, police reported eggs being thrown in several government districts – some at houses, some at people.
