Halle: Trams drive again after the derailment

Derailment in a curve

According to the police, a tram on line 5 with the destination Bad Dürrenberg jumped off the tracks in the morning in the Klausbrücke curve towards Hallmarkt. The train turned sideways, the tip ran over the opposite track and a lane of the road. The journey ended in front of a house wall. As a result, the Klausbrücke and the Hallorenring had to be closed and lines 2, 5 and 10 had to be diverted from Markt. The salvage of the accident train lasted until the evening.

Police: “luck in misfortune”

Residents of the adjacent house and passers-by escaped with a fright. “Everything could have turned out much worse, it was luck in disguise,” said a police spokeswoman. In the area near the Klaus Bridge, there are usually many cars, cyclists and pedestrians on the road.

The cause of the accident is being sought
