half a ton of cocaine seized at the large maritime port of Marseille

Customs officers from the Fos-Port-Saint-Louis office intercepted nearly half a ton of cocaine last Friday on one of the basins of the large maritime port of Marseille, announced the police headquarters.

The goods, estimated at 36 million euros, had traveled in the middle of a legal load of parquet, in a container transported by a ship from Chile. It was while passing it through X-rays that customs officers saw the suspicious sports bags. This is the largest seizure made by customs on this port platform.

Last year, French customs seized nearly 18 tonnes of white powder, double the amount of the previous year.
