Hackers paralyze twelve communities in Swabia – Bavaria

Criminal hackers have partially paralyzed the administration in twelve Swabian communities. The municipal data processing association in the Neu-Ulm district has “fallen victim to a cyber attack and is no longer functioning as a data center for the affiliated communities until further notice,” it says on the website of the Altenstadt administrative community. Several media outlets previously reported on this.

According to the administrative community, the work of the respective citizens’ offices with the residents’ registration office and passport office, the municipal treasuries and the cemeteries are particularly affected. “There will be significant restrictions in the affected administrations for some time,” the note said. “It is recommended that citizens first call the town hall before speaking in person to find out whether the desired request can currently be processed.”

The association includes eleven communities from the Neu-Ulm district and one from the Augsburg district.
