For many, it is a blessing when grandparents are available to step in to look after the baby or toddler. Then mothers or fathers can take a break. Sometimes it’s enough to have someone to play with the kids, to do some shopping, or to rest for an hour. Anyone who does not receive such help from family members can get help from the family center in Haar with so-called family sponsors. These volunteers from the “Bavarian Family Sponsors Network” come to the house on request. Because one can never have enough of such helpers, the family center is currently looking for women and men who have the time and energy for this task. This Tuesday, September 20, at 9.30 a.m., there will be a meeting of the godparents in the Haar Family Center, where everyone is welcome to inform themselves spontaneously without obligation.
Even if it is primarily only about caring for babies and small children on an hourly basis, the godparents receive training based on the concept of the family godparents network. They meet four to six times a year to exchange ideas and give short presentations on the topics of communication, conflicts and child development. The family center remains the point of contact if there are questions, the sponsorship changes or a farewell is pending.
