Former Defense Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg and the GDR’s former spy chief Markus Wolf don’t have much in common. But at least they both lost high offices in their respective states and subsequently published books with diary-like notes. And they each introduced these books with the remark that a short time before they had not believed that they would ever publish these books.
