Go on vacation like Dick and Dalli at the Immenhof – this dream comes true. The location of the “Immenhof” films has turned into a hotel for horse lovers with high demands. “There are already a lot of bookings for autumn,” says hotel manager Mühl.

The films about the Immenhof pony stud were cult at the end of the 1950s. They made the Rothensande estate on the Schleswig-Holstein Kellersee known throughout Germany. After the films were shot, the estate fell into a deep slumber. It should now come to an end: after years of construction, that is on the extensive facility Hotel “Gut Immenhof” which opened on October 1st.

“On that day we go from a soft opening to regular hotel operations and hope that everything runs smoothly,” said hotel director Thilo Mühl. “We are not planning an opening ceremony until a later date.” The target groups for the new facility with 50 rooms and suites as well as six holiday apartments are families as well as nature and pleasure lovers.

It took nine years for Gut Rothensande in the Ostholstein district to become the current hotel complex. “The renovation was very complex,” says the managing director of the operating company, Ole Marxen. “We had to put several buildings on new foundations, which caused considerable delays.” The originally planned opening date in 2018 finally became October 1, 2021.

Gut Rothensande has had an eventful history, and the owners have changed several times. The baroque-looking manor house and the gatehouse date from 1911. In the early 1950s, the manor was used as the backdrop for three of the five “Immenhof” films (1955 “Die Mädels vom Immenhof”, 1956 “Hochzeit auf Immenhof”, 1957 “Holidays at Immenhof”).

The films are all about the adventures of the Dick sisters (played by Angelika Meissner-Voelkner (1939-2018), Dalli (Heidi Brühl (1942-1991) and Angela (Christiane König, born 1932). The “Immenhof” films) The years 1973 and 1974 were no longer shot on Rothensande, but on Gut Kletkamp in the Plön district and on the Radlandsichten farm near Timmdorf in the municipality of Malente.

There have been plans to convert the estate into a hotel. In 2009 the farmer Franz Joseph Stolle from Lower Saxony bought the site, but his plans failed due to the financing. Finally, the businessman Carl-Joachim Deilmann acquired the 180 hectare estate and officially made it the Immenhof estate.

As in the films, horses should become an integral part of the estate in the future. “In addition to modern stables and riding facilities, the estate also includes several riding horses and ponies,” says the hotel’s website. “There are already a lot of bookings for autumn and we are very satisfied with the positive response and the great interest shown by the guests,” says hotel director Mühl.

Local politicians also have high expectations of the new Immenhof. “The” Immenhof “films are still very attractive,” says the non-party mayor of Malente, Tanja Rönck. “I think it will be a very well-rounded offer that will not only stimulate tourism in Malente, but also in the entire Holstein Switzerland region.”
