Gusty winds and heavy rain expected Thursday and Friday with the passage of Storm Diego

The meteorological institute announces “consequent” winds and rains for the next two days. In much of France, with the exception of the south, precipitation is expected to reach 20 to 40 millimeters of rain and 60 millimeters locally in forty-eight hours.

Snowflakes in the mountains

In the reliefs, snow is expected above 1,800-2,000 meters, specifies Météo-France, which warns of the risk of avalanches. From this Thursday, gusts of wind between 60 and 80 km / h are expected over a large part of the country. On the Atlantic coasts, it blows even stronger with gusts of 100 to 110 km / h, and even 120 km / h locally.

On Friday, storm Diego will also be accompanied by “strong accumulations of rain which will be added to the already copious rains forecast for Thursday”, specifies the meteorological organization. Only spared, “the Mediterranean rim retains dry and bright weather, temporarily veiled”, specifies Météo-France. In Corsica, the wind will blow from 80 to 100 km / h on Friday. The episode must last until Saturday morning.
