A 78-year-old was fatally injured in an argument with her son in Gunzenhausen, in central Franconia, on Monday. The 52-year-old son was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He is in the intensive care unit there, a police spokeswoman said on Tuesday morning.
Mother and son had lived together in one house. According to the police’s previous findings, they clashed on Monday afternoon and then seriously injured each other with sharp objects – probably knives. The mother succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Her body will be autopsied in the morning.
After the argument, the son went to a neighbor who then called 911. It was initially unclear what the dispute was about.
