Günther Felssner is the new President of the Bavarian Farmers’ Association – Bavaria

The Bavarian Farmers’ Association (BBV) has a new president. The previous Vice Günther Felssner was elected on Friday in Herrsching to head the organization with around 140,000 members, as the association announced. The 55-year-old from Middle Franconia prevailed relatively narrowly with 65 out of 119 valid votes against Stefan Köhler. A total of five candidates competed.

Felssner announced that during his five-year term in office he would “represent the interests of farming families with all his might in politics, business and society”. The primary goal is to “recognize future opportunities for our local agriculture, to develop perspectives and make them usable for all farms”.

Felssner runs a dairy farm in Lauf an der Pegnitz with 100 cows and offspring. He has been involved in the farmers’ association for 20 years. In the past ten years he was deputy to the previous president Walter Heidl and milk president in the BBV. The new vice-president is the district president of the Upper Palatinate Ely Eibisch from Tirschenreuth.
