News anchor Gundula Gause had to cancel the “heute journal” broadcast on Monday evening because of sudden language problems. Colleague Dunja Hayali spoke of an attack of dizziness.
Nightly fright on ZDF “heute journal”: presenter Gundula Gause had to end her work in the news program on Monday evening early due to health reasons. Main presenter Dunja Hayali then finished the live broadcast alone.
Gause was reading a message about the Gaza war when she had difficulty articulating. Her voice suddenly began to falter, the words becoming slurred and slurred. Gause was no longer seen in the picture for the rest of the broadcast. Many viewers then expressed concerns about the 58-year-old’s health on social media.

Colleague Hayali explained the failure at the end of the program with a dizzy attack: “The fact that I had to finish the program alone is because Gundula just got a little dizzy. It can happen, but the all-clear: she’s feeling better again.”
There is currently no further information about the dropout. Gause is a veteran of the “heute journal” and has been co-presenter of the ZDF news program since 1993.
