Gundelfingen: Car drives through railway barrier and is hit by train – Bavaria

A man was hit by a train in his car after driving through a closed railway barrier in the Dillingen an der Donau district. In addition, the signal light showed red on Monday, the police said.

The 76-year-old was trapped in his car as a result of the collision in Gundelfingen on the Danube on the border with Baden-Württemberg. He was taken to hospital with minor to moderate injuries. Both the train driver, the train attendant and the 45 passengers remained uninjured.

The damage caused to the railway crossing could not initially be estimated. The railway line between Gundelfingen and Neuoffingen was closed for several hours.
