No summer slump at Disney +: films and series such as “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” and “Star Wars: Ahsoka” start on the streaming service.

With temperatures around 30 degrees, most people are currently more attracted to the outdoor pool than the sofa. But balmy summer evenings and rainy weekends also invite you to have fun on the couch – and exciting restarts await on the streaming portals.

Among other things, the eagerly awaited “Star Wars” series “Ahsoka” with Rosario Dawson (44) in the lead role starts on Disney +. Also the Marvel blockbuster “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3″ and the third season of the extremely amusing comedy-crime series “Only Murders in the Building” with the trio of main actors Steve Martin (77), Martin Short (73) and Selena Gomez (30) promise entertainment on the sofa at home.

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”: Coming to Disney+ on August 2nd

For what will probably be the last time, Star-Lord (Chris Pratt, 44), Gamora (Zoe Saldana, 45) and Co., directed by mastermind James Gunn (56), come together to make the Marvel Universe unsafe as the Guardians of the Galaxy. In the third “Guardians” film, viewers learn, among other things, the history of fan favorite Rocket (original voice actor: Bradley Cooper), who was created by an evil scientist named High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji, 47).

The Marvel blockbuster once again scores with director Gunn’s typical mixture of music, comedy, lots of emotion and a strong cast. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be available to stream on Disney+ starting August 2nd.

“Futurama”: Comeback from July 24th

This news is sure to make fan hearts beat faster: From July 24th, the cult animated series “Futurama” will return to the screen after a break of almost ten years – and will see the legendary characters Bender, Fry, Leela, Professor Farnsworth and Co.

A total of ten new episodes of Revival season eleven await viewers. The episodes are broadcast on a weekly basis. Judging by the trailer already available the return of the cult series is about current topics and problems such as cryptocurrencies, the flood of series on streaming services or a global pandemic.

“Only Murders in the Building”: To be streamed from August 8th

The three Emmy Award-winning comedy and crime series Only Murders in the Building enters its third season on August 8th. True crime podcast enthusiasts Oliver Putnam (Short), Charles-Haden Savage (Martin) and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez) naturally take on a brand new murder case teased in the previous season’s finale.

Two extremely prominent faces strengthen the cast of the series for season three: The three-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep (74) takes on a completely unknown role. Marvel star Paul Rudd, 54, plays theater actor Ben Glenroy, who collapsed onstage and was apparently murdered in the final moments of season two.

“Ahsoka”: Next “Star Wars” series from August 23

The next big “Star Wars” series “Ahsoka” starts on August 23rd. It is set in the same time span as the popular show The Mandalorian, which Ahsoka Tano has also appeared on. Ahsoka was introduced to Star Wars viewers as Anakin Skywalker’s padawan in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. In the miniseries “Ahsoka,” the protagonist, played by Rosario Dawson, searches for Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen, 59) after the events of “Rebels.” Hayden Christensen (42), Natasha Liu Bordizzo (28), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (38) and Ray Stevenson (1964-2023), who died in May, take on other roles.

Another series highlight is the Golden Globe-winning New York series “The Bear: King of the Kitchen”; she returns on August 16 with season two. New to the ensemble of the series are Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis (64), “Better Call Saul” star Bob Odenkirk (60), Sarah Paulson (“American Horror Story”, 48) and Gillian Jacobs (“Community”, 40).
