Grünwald – Greens stimulate the Bürgersaal – District of Munich

The Greens want a public park on the former Mahag site in Grünwald. The municipality, which owns the property at Südliche Münchner Strasse 12 to 14, should have a new building erected on it, municipal councilor Bettina Schreyer demands in an application. According to the ideas of the Greens, a community hall for community festivities and “events such as cabaret, folk theater, folk music, theatre, dance festivals, boys’ festivals, village festivals, cinema, open-air cinema” could be created on the ground floor.

Rooms for the Grünwalder holiday program, for clubs or the youth center would then be created on the upper floor of the building. A workshop with sewing machines could also be set up there. In addition, a smaller building for technology, storage and toilets is to be built. In the architectural competition for the building, a one hundred percent ecological construction method should be specified, the competition for the landscape architecture should focus on a perennial garden and insect-friendly and native planting.

“The large, centrally located property has only been used to a limited extent for years,” writes Greens councilor Bettina Schreyer in the justification for the application. “Some of the existing buildings are moldy and all of them are no longer in need of renovation. A redesign of the property and an attractive, modern new building would enhance the townscape, and Grünwald would be perceived as more open and inviting in the center.” According to the Greens, the quality of life of all residents would increase: they could rest, relax, have their lunch break, read or meet friends in this place. Schreyer has a “small Jardin du Luxembourg” in mind.
