The Union only wants to agree to planned relief for companies if the cancellation of a tax break for farmers is reversed. The federal government criticizes this – and now also the medium-sized business association.
Christoph Ahlhaus (CDU) was formerly First Mayor of Hamburg in 2010 and 2011, after Ole von Beust and before Olaf Scholz. He is now chairman of the federal management of the medium-sized business association BVMW – and is currently not in good terms with his party friends.
The CDU is blocking the Federal Government’s so-called Growth Opportunities Act in the Bundesrat, which provides relief of seven billion euros for companies. She only wants to solve the blockade if the federal government reverses the controversial reduction in tax relief for agricultural diesel.
Ahlhaus provides Ability to govern the Union in question
Ahlhaus said this ARD capital studio: “There are unrelated things that are linked here.” The ‘Growth Opportunities Act’ is not sufficient, but it is “an important first step” for medium-sized businesses.
Ahlhaus accuses the Union of delaying the “Growth Opportunities Act” “out of pure political intrigue.” “Anyone who does something like that is not living up to their social responsibility and must also ask themselves whether they are capable of governing at this point in time.”
The federal government also criticizes linking the “Growth Opportunities Act” with agricultural diesel as irrelevant. Union parliamentary group vice-president Spahn, on the other hand, told the “Handelsblatt” with regard to agricultural diesel that anyone who wants growth should not increase taxes here either.
