The spider azalea: the soil is important!
Azaleas are botanically related to Rhododendrons, and belong to the large Ericaceae family (Erica: heather) which allows us to better understand their requirements in terms of soil. They like acidic soils (whose pH is less than 6) and do not tolerate limescale.
They must therefore be installed in soils which have been, if necessary, enriched by the addition of heather soil or well-decomposed leaf compost if you have it.
Two types of azaleas!
There are two main types of azaleas, the deciduous which flower before the leaves appear and the persistent ones. Some of these latter varieties are also forced and sold in flower to decorate your interior for many months.
Why is it called spider azalea?
Amazing flowers ‘Koromo’, variety with evergreen foliage is called by the English “Spider Azalea” because of the shape of its flowers, delicately scented with mauve pink petals, more colorful at their base, which are curiously very elongated. For several weeks, the flowers will hide the foliage, forming a delightful cushion.
The foliage takes on a reddish color in the fall.
Your ‘Koromo’ in the ground or in a pot
If the ‘Koromo’ can be installed on a terrace in a container due to its fairly slow growth and its reduced development, it is especially in beds associated with other plants of heathland that it will take its full place.
Marry her with camellias, rhododendrons and other azaleas by playing on strong contrasts (yellow, orange flowers, etc.). Possibly toned down with white touches or by creating subtle shades combining pink and mauve.
This plant comes from cultivation without the use of synthetic chemicals.

The success of growing Azalea ‘Koromo’ is not limited only to soil preparation or choice of location. Regular maintenance is essential to guarantee abundant and healthy flowering. In spring, after flowering, it is advisable to lightly prune the plant to stimulate the growth of new flower buds and maintain a compact shape.
Additionally, during periods of drought, adequate watering is crucial. ‘Koromo’ Azaleas require soil that is constantly moist, but never soggy, which could lead to root rot.

Fertilization
