The Bavarian Greens want to promote the energy transition, especially in rural areas. In the rural regions, the surplus electricity should be produced with wind and solar energy in order to supply the people in the cities and metropolitan areas, according to a key proposal that was discussed on Saturday at the state party conference in Augsburg.
The main focus of the application is to quadruple the capacity of photovoltaics and wind turbines in the Free State. Among other things, the Greens are calling for the controversial 10H rule to be abolished. This stipulates that the next place in Bavaria must be ten times as far away as the wheel is. In the future, two percent of the land area should be available for wind turbines and one percent for open-space photovoltaic systems.
“In the future, wind power will also have a home in Bavaria,” said Federal Chairwoman Annalena Baerbock in a video message to around 300 delegates. Bavaria’s state chairman Eva Lettenbauer added that the rural area should also be strengthened by attractive medical practices, nationwide fiber optic internet access and more bus offers. On Sunday, the second day of the delegates’ meeting, Lettenbauer wants to apply for another term as head of the Greens.
