Less than 200 meters from one of the oldest churches in the Munich area, the first industrial building in the new Keferloh commercial area is growing. The printing works are set up in the municipal area of Grasbrunn, although a decision by the Bavarian Administrative Court (VGH) on an application for norm control is pending. The neighboring municipality of Haar submitted this in order to overturn the development plan and prevent the industrial park from being built. Their reasoning: A recreation area will be destroyed, Haar will be burdened with traffic and the hamlet will be sprawled.
Many stories are entwined around Keferloh, going back to the battle of Otto the Great in 955 against the Hungarians on the Lechfeld. The horses captured there are said to have been sold at Keferloh. In any case, the town on the Salzstraße received market rights as early as the 12th century and was a place where cattle were traded and a notorious folk festival, which was often accompanied by brawls, up until the 19th century. The “Keferloher” as a beer mug, the economy at Gut Keferloh and the tradition of the “Keferloher Monday” with a marquee and hearty politician speeches still bear witness to this today. The church of St. Aegidius, built in Romanesque style and consecrated in 1173, is very close by.
Gas station, tennis center and administration building
However, the place has long been characterized by functional buildings. Administration buildings have recently been added to a gas station and a neglected, extensive tennis facility. When Grasbrunn began to plan a four-hectare industrial park, the neighborly restraint in Haar was dropped and Grasbrunn was attacked because of the structural development there. Among other things, the municipal council decided with the votes of the CSU and FDP in December 2020 to appeal to the Administrative Court. He rejected an application for an injunction. And because a valid development plan and an approved building application were available, the construction of the print shop began. A spokesman for the VGH now explains that there is legal certainty for this, even if the development plan should be declared retrospectively unsustainable. At the moment it is “not foreseeable” when the court will terminate the matter.
In Haar, CSU parliamentary group leader Dietrich Keymer now sees a race against time to at least partially stop what he sees as the building blunders. Keymer says everyone now recognizes the dimension. “The Grasbrunner have always acted as if you could hide it behind trees.” Grasbrunn has enough space to settle the trade in a more compatible way. Grasbrunn’s Mayor Klaus Korneder (SPD), on the other hand, maintains that the commercial buildings are still surrounded by greenery and that everything is designed to be pleasing. It is a small, compatible commercial area, he says. Where would be better to connect such a thing than on a federal highway? Further building inquiries are pending.
