Graphic designer Paula Scher in the Pinakothek der Moderne Munich – Munich

Bold letters that are getting thinner and thinner, Paula Scher used this graphic design back in 1995 for the poster “Bring in ‘da Noise, bring in ‘da Funk” for the Public Theater.

Even the view from above into the paternoster room of the Neue Sammlung in the Pinakothek der Moderne makes it clear: Here you will not be entering a normal exhibition, but a world of experience. The floor: the reproduction of a hand-drawn, somewhat whimsical map. The walls: papered with oversized posters with letters, numbers and pictures in yellow and orange, a lot of red, pink, purple, but also blue and green, with classic black and white in between. In addition, showcases whose feet allude to fonts such as Sans, Serif, Bold and Thin. The two paternosters, which show posters and drafts for individual commissioned works in constant circulation. All of this in the site-specific installation is the world of Paula Scher.
