Grand Central Madison in New York: art on the track – culture

From

Christian Zaschke

It took more than 20 years to complete the new Grand Central Madison train station in New York. It cost more than eleven billion dollars. It feels close to the center of the earth and is actually 43 meters deep. And who wouldn’t be happy about a train station that better connects Long Island and large parts of Queens to Manhattan? A train station in which the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has not only invested in steel and concrete and lots of marble, but also in art that can be seen in the new halls? So what happened, as is usual in New York, was the absolute first thing that happened after this station recently opened? It was mocked in detail.
