Developer Polyphony Digital got an in-depth look at in a 30-minute State of Play presentation given by GT Maestro Kazunori Yamauchi Gran Turismo 7 thrown. When Gran Turismo 7 launches next month for PlayStation 4 and 5, it will feature around 300 detailed cars, 34 locations with 97 track layouts, a museum where you can read the history of each manufacturer’s brand with accompanying photos and text, the return of the used car dealer and much more included. Custom races, driver’s license tests, drag races, drift trials and a split-screen 2-player local mode are all factored in, as are a range of online options. Including multiplayer lobbies, hangouts and sports mode for those who want to do “serious” races against online opponents.
The aforementioned used car dealership will provide a place to find coveted vehicles, iconic classics, rare cars and vintage models. Each of the approximately 300 cars in the game will feature photorealistic detail, which extends to the game environments as PlayStation 5 supports ray tracing and all sorts of effects. GT Auto offers customization options such as body kits, a paint editor, tuning (with 60 different performance parts per car) and much more. On the racetrack you have to take the weather conditions into account, because the humidity affects, for example, tire grip and handling. On larger circuits such as the Nürburgring, the game’s weather systems may cause the conditions on certain sections of the track to be different.
Replay mode is joined by Music Replay mode, which dynamically adjusts gameplay to the song in progress, while the new Music Rally mode allows you to drive between checkpoints while enjoying a song. The DualSense’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers simulate the feel of rubber on the track surface to give you a feel for the road.
Scapes offers 2,500 locations around the world where you can park your car for a stylized photo. But you can also use the Race Photo Mode to take snapshots during an event. With a bunch of sliders and settings for you to fiddle with. As you can see, there will be plenty to do and drive.
Gran Turismo 7 arrives on March 4, 2022 for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on the market. After the launch, more content is planned in the form of updates.
